We are a community-focused creative organisation based on the Fylde Coast, using photography, videography, walking, storytelling, and creative media to help people build confidence, improve wellbeing, and reconnect with both themselves and others.

Oakenspire was created from a simple belief: many people feel isolated, overlooked, anxious, or disconnected, yet creativity has the power to bring people together in a calm, supportive, and meaningful way.

Our projects are designed to be welcoming, practical, and accessible. Whether someone picks up a camera for the first time, joins one of our wellbeing photography walks, learns new media skills or simply spends time in a supportive group environment, the goal is always the same:

To help people grow in confidence and rediscover their value.

Our Background

Oakenspire brings together decades of experience in photography, visual storytelling, engineering, education, and filmmaking.

The project is led by Steve, a professional photographer with over 20 years of experience running a portrait studio in Blackpool. After a long engineering career working within complex technical industries, Steve chose to focus on people, creativity, and community.

Working alongside Steve is his son Michael, a filmmaker with a Master’s degree in documentary filmmaking, together combining visual storytelling with a strong understanding of how creativity can support confidence, communication, and emotional wellbeing.

Oakenspire is also supported by Debbie, whose background in education and community support helps shape the caring and inclusive ethos that sits at the heart of every project.
